About Trident Studios:
Now... (1993 - present)
'Trident Sound Studio Limited' started as an audio post production facility back in 1993 when it opened originally under the name 'The Sound Studio'. However around 2002 we though that given the enormous amount of music history held here at 17 St. Anne's Court, it would be fitting that we adopt the Trident name to keep a part of history alive. The studio here in Soho has now been recording sounds since it opened in 1968.
Although we operate under the Trident name, we are not involved in recording music anymore, instead we specialise in recording the spoken word and mixing audio for TV, Radio and the internet. Our business as an audio post production facility means we now cover: recording voice overs, running ISDN & Source Connect links, mix sound in stereo and 5.1 surround, denoise audio, record foreign language scripts, sound design... the list goes on!
The company was started and is still run by Peter Hughes whose history in sound goes back to the days of Radio Luxembourg. Its philiosophy is still the same nearly 20 years on; to provide the best service for sound possible.
Then... (1968 - 1985)
Trident Studio Limited first opened in 1968 and in its 15 years operating as a music recording studio, it saw the likes of Elton John, Queen, T-Rex, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, The Beatles... From the day it opened to the day it closed as a music studio, it recorded nearly every hit record for the period. You can read more about the history of the studio on our history page.
